We currently have an opportunity within SPIE Global Services Energy,Qatar for a 

Subsystems Specialist

 

Job Purpose

 

The Subsystem Specialist is part of the Instrument Discipline Team, responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance and modification of 25 Instrument Subsystems that are used for safeguarding, control, and monitoring of various processes. These activities are based on approved Maintenance Strategies, Plant Changes, Procedures, and Working Instructions to ensure the highest availability and integrity of the complex installed Subsystems, meeting the company's requirements.

 

Principal Accountabilities

• Assist in operational activities through equipment inspection and maintenance based on QA/QC procedures and Reliability-Centered Maintenance techniques.
• Contribute to the reliability and integrity of plant instrumentation equipment by applying approved standards, procedures, and schedules within an ISO-certified quality assurance system.
• Act as a front-line maintenance person for Subsystems problems and breakdown maintenance.
• Support area maintenance teams for problems requiring specialist competencies not present in the area teams.
• Lead and participate in troubleshooting and investigations.
• Establish materials and equipment required to complete all allocated tasks correctly.
• Ensure Subsystems availability and integrity through monitoring and maintaining performance and strict adherence to plant change procedures.
• Implement/modify functional logics on Subsystems resulting from approved plant changes/projects as directed by the Subsystems Lead.
• Support the Subsystems Lead in developing Subsystems related changes.
• Develop/update as-built documents for Subsystems modifications.
• Provide technical support and advice on Subsystems solutions in the assigned area.
• Maintain Subsystems integrity by setting and controlling security parameters and privileges, setting priorities, installing and reinstalling applications, and arranging backup and recovery activities.
• Ensure accurate history of maintenance and inspection activities within the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Supervise and support peripheral resources to maintain Subsystems availability, reliability, and performance statistics.
• Carry out condition monitoring of installed Subsystems and record results through the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Assist and supervise support from other resources (vendors and internal specialists) to perform problem-solving, optimization, system development, and maximize use of the Subsystems.
• Become approved as an Appointed Electrical Person for Low Voltage Equipment and Subsystems Isolation.
• Ensure compliance with the company's HSSE policy and guidelines.
• Assist in controlling Subsystems documentation/data.
• Participate in the Duty Roster.
• Act independently.
• Contribute to field audits and inspections.
• Ensure no overdue PM jobs.

 

Profile

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent qualification in Instrumentation, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in Instrumentation/Systems in onshore or offshore facilities within the Petrochemical Industry.

Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in the configuration and maintenance of subsystems.


Proficient in field instrument installation, maintenance execution, and testing.


Experienced in troubleshooting and analyzing system alarms and equipment failures.


Solid understanding of scientific principles, various measuring techniques, engineering fundamentals, and computer technologies.


Skilled in working with various control systems, including Siemens PC7/S300/S1500, GE Mark VI, Bentley Nevada 3500/System 1, and Woodward Governor Control.


Competent in working with smart field instrumentation (FF & 4-20mA HART).


Effective in delivering technical presentations.


Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural team environment and manage priorities efficiently. Strong communication skills in both written and spoken English.
