Job description

We currently have an opportunity within SPIE Oil & Gas Services Middle East L.L.C for a Panel Operator

Job Purpose:
This is an opportunity for you to be responsible for operating the Sour Gas Train facilities safely through Distributed Control System (DCS) from Central Control Building (CCB) or other control stations; monitor the process parameters, alarms and take appropriate corrective action to make on-spec product and safe unit operation. Establish communication and coordinate with the Supervisor, Panel Operator, Senior Field Operator and Field Operator for safe start up, shutdown and emergencies of the assigned units and coordinates with Production Supervisor / Senior Panel Operator / Panel Operator

Your main duties will be to:
Operates according to established procedures, including starting-up/shutting-down the plant and adjusting associate instruments to maintain the required levels, flow rates, pressure and temperature.
Prepares the plant for maintenance as per the established procedures when required, accompanies the Instrument/Mechanical/Electrical technicians to explain defects/defaults ensuring safe preparation of equipment for routine planned maintenance, and tests such repaired equipment to ensure smooth efficient operation.
Mixes chemicals to appropriate ratios and prepares doses for injection into process steams whenever required.
Carries out planned inspection and safety tours to identify unsafe conditions and monitor performance to ensure efficient operation according to site procedures and regulations. Records in a log sheet operating data such as flow rates, pressure, temperature levels.
Practices, classifies equipment form hazard point of view. Prepares machinery and equipment for maintenance in accordance with established procedures, safety regulations and maintains adequate standard of housekeeping throughout the plants.
Prepares Permit to Work for Production Supervisor approval and perform equipment for maintenance activities in accordance with established company Quality Systems and manufacturers' practices and procedures.


Ideally, you should have at least a Diploma or equivalent
Ideally, you should have 5 to 8 years of experience in a Sour Gas Plant
Good Physical Health
Previous experience in sour gas plant is an advantage
Capable of giving strong attention to details and problem-solving skills.

Minimum level of experience required

6 years or more

Required technical skills

H2S environment and in other potentially challenging environment
Honeywell C300 DCS Operational experience in sour gas production or process or equivalent
Competent with Gas Sweetening process, Gas dehydration, Hot Oil Heaters, Pumps, Compressors, Contactors, Refrigeration
Development of technical solutions in operational context
Trained in Industrial firefighting
Mechanical and Instrument knowledge will be an added advantage.


English (C-Professional working proficiency)
