Job description

SPIE Services Nigeria Limited is looking to strengthen its workforce in Nigeria by recruiting experienced Pressure Safety Valve (PSV) Technician to join our offshore operations team. If you have a strong background in electrical maintenance within the oil & gas industry, we invite you to apply!

Key Responsibilities:

Operations & Maintenance

  • Perform inspection, testing, disassembly, calibration, and reassembly of Pressure Safety Valves (PSVs), Pressure Relief Valves (PRVs), and associated control devices.
  • Execute valve maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs following OEM specifications and industry standards.
  •  Conduct pressure leak testing and seat tightness verification using hydrostatic and pneumatic test benches.
    Ensure PSV settings comply with ASME, API 527, API 576, and client specifications.
  •  Conduct in-situ testing and maintenance of spring-loaded, pilot-operated, and rupture disc pressure relief systems.
  •  Document all maintenance activities, test results, and findings in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) (e.g., SAP, Maximo).
  •  Support periodic turnaround (TAR) and shutdown valve maintenance campaigns.

Equipment & System Monitoring

  • Monitor and assess PSV performance, identifying anomalies and recommending corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices for overpressure protection systems.
  • Maintain valve storage records and ensure proper tagging and traceability of PSVs.

 Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure strict compliance with Permit to Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and Work at Height safety procedures.
  •  Adhere to HSE policies and report non-conformances or unsafe conditions to the QHSE department.
  •  Follow best practices for handling, lubricating, and assembling PSVs to maintain performance and reliability.

Profile

  •  Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field.
  •  Minimum 5 years’ experience in PSV maintenance within offshore oil & gas or petrochemical environments.
  •  Proven experience with safety relief valves from major OEMs (e.g., Anderson Greenwood, Consolidated, Farris, Leser, Crosby, and Tyco).
  • Hands-on experience with hydrostatic and pneumatic testing equipment.
     Proficiency in troubleshooting PSV issues, including set pressure deviations, seat leakage, and chatter.
  •  Strong understanding of process pressure management, overpressure protection systems, and relief device operations.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, valve datasheets, and PSV test certificates.
  •  Experience with shutdown and turnaround PSV maintenance planning.

  • BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training) + HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training) with CA-EBS – OPITO Approved.
  • Medical Fitness Certificate (offshore standard, e.g., OGUK or equivalent).
    Permit to Work (PTW) Authorization – Awareness & Competency in Isolation Procedures.
