Job description
The Quality Inspector (Coatings) (ICorr/NACE Level 2 and 3) is responsible for monitoring and reporting compliance with quality standards and procedures that regulate the preparation and application of coatings and surface treatments.
The Quality Inspector will also recommend methods to improve overall
quality and assist in analyzing quality concerns.
The role includes but is not limited to:
- Executes the specific inspections on materials, equipment, and construction/installation activities on site.
- Issues the relevant Quality Records and, when necessary, write and send to Quality Control Supervisor non-conformances reports.
- Control of storage and certification of consumables.
- Performs qualifications of coating processes.
- Checks surface preparation.
- Checks and records atmospheric conditions prior to starting painting operations.
- Carries out wet and dry film thickness checks.
- Monitors observations of the correct coding cycles.
- Verifies the correct color coding and painting.
- Performs visual inspections.
- Performs adhesion testing.
- Performs penetration testing.
- Evaluates impact testing.
- Performs visual checks after blasting.
Profile
- Institute of Corrosion (ICorr) or NACE qualification Level 2 and Level 3
- Technical coating experience to include the following:
- Painting and coating specifications
- Flaw/discontinuity identification and classification
- Blasting and surface parameters
- Painting techniques
- Coating repair systems
- Additional complementary qualifications, such as Supervisor Training and Lead Auditor would be an advantage
- Coatings industry experience that includes a coatings inspection regime associated with a large project
- Related industrial services experience, including offshore
- ISO:9001 quality systems awareness
- Construction health and safety awareness
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Personal drive, motivation, and commitment
The ability to train and mentor colleagues when required is essential.
Must be a strong safety player and leader with a proven track record of executing work safely.
