Job description

SPIE Services Nigeria Limited is currently looking for QHSE Coordinator to join its work force in Nigeria.

 

The QHSE Coordinator is responsible for overseeing Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) processes during the Full Feed Shutdown project. This role ensures compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and client requirements while actively promoting a culture of continuous improvement in QHSE performance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

1. Training & Compliance

  • Train staff and conduct QHSE awareness sessions, evaluations, and documentation reviews.
  • Promote the company’s QHSE policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to all applicable regulations.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of QHSE-related procedures, work instructions, and forms.

2. Risk Management & Incident Prevention

  • Facilitate risk identification and mitigation strategies to eliminate workplace hazards.
  • Regularly assess the work environment to identify and eliminate industrial hygiene exposures, environmental risks, and quality non-conformances.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for reporting and managing offshore incidents, injuries, spills, and near misses.
  • Participate in trend analysis of accidents, incidents, and non-conformances to recommend corrective actions.

3. Operational & Offshore Coordination

  • Organize and lead QHSE and Safety toolbox meetings to address current challenges, corrective actions, and audit findings.
  • Consult with offshore department heads to assess operational readiness and ensure equipment compliance.
  • Attend customer-sponsored meetings regarding QHSE concerns related to offshore operations.
  • Support subcontractors in maintaining QHSE compliance and adherence to safety protocols.

4. Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Assist in preparing QHSE reports, including statistics and compliance initiatives, for management review.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of company drug and alcohol compliance policies.
  • Support internal and external audits, ensuring corrective actions are properly implemented. 

Profile

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a QHSE role, preferably in the oil & gas, energy, or industrial sector.

  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and OSHA standards.

  • Experience with shutdown projects, offshore safety procedures, and incident investigations.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to train personnel and drive QHSE initiatives.

  • NEBOSH IGC / IOSH Managing Safely
  • HSE Level 1, 2 & 3 Certification
  • Lead Auditor Certification (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001)
  • BOSIET / HUET (for offshore projects)
