Job description

SPIE Services Nigeria Limited is currently looking for Telecoms Projects Engineer to join its work force in Nigeria. Responsibilities include: 

  • Prepare technical specification for standardization of telecom equipment.
  • Write procedures for preventative and system exploitation and ensure usage by maintenance contractors.
  • Carry out technical engineering studies for design and installation of Telecom systems, RADAR, Mast, Earthling, PAGA, CCTV, Entertainment etc.
  • Supervision of project deployment in line with specification and GS TEL installation rules.
  • Preparation of technical dossier (Scope of work) for RFQ from potential contractors regarding telecommunication projects, and specific operations on systems.
  • Prepare technical scope of work for different dimensions of Telecommunication projects.
  • Participate in contract technical bid evaluation and follow up other actions by contract department.
  • Carry out routine telecommunication assessment and preventative maintenance visit and propose improvements.
  • Participate in quality performance meetings with third party contractors.
  • Develop capacity of Nigeria Company’s personnel regarding project management and exploitation of critical production system
  • Carry out maintenance activities on Telecoms systems on call out basis for Telecom installations in specific sites (ERIT, EMT, CMT) in the affiliate.
  • Execute project (EPCC) in the affiliate and ensure seamless handover to operations team.
  • Propose Improvement of the QoS provided by the Telecommunication Contractors for systems maintenance.
  • Propose to Telecommunication management new evolutions regarding hardware infrastructure.
  • Prepare system procedures for technical exploitation and end-user usage.
  • Continually recommend improvement in telecom solutions for crises means and validate with hierarchies.
  • Carry out any other duties that may be assigned to him by the hierarchy.

Transverse Functions:

  • Provide Operation and maintenance support in collaboration with Field Engineers and Technicians, of the following field systems and equipment: PA/GA, CCTV, GMDSS, Access control, Radar with AIS, UHF/VHF Radios, Satellite TV, Line of site/ non-line of site microwave links: WiMAX, 4G/LTE, Radar Beacon (RACON), Non-Directional Beacon (NBD), Video conference, Infrastructure monitoring systems.
  • Support offshore Telecom specialists and assist in carrying out maintenance activities on Telecom systems.
  • Recommend for adoption, appropriate solutions for operational problems/anomalies of Telecommunication Equipment/Systems at Field.
  • Participate in affiliate Telecoms and other IST projects and related task forces and deliver on assigned tasks.

Profile

  • Minimum University degree B.Sc. degree in Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in telecommunication, network engineering, operation, and maintenance. Experience in commissioning and delivery of Telecom aspects of large O&G production platform project is an advantage.
  • Good reporting, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge and use of computer drawing and office applications.
